Making a car donation can be fairly straight forward as long as the charity accepts such donations. If they do, then you just need to make sure that they can get the vehicle and it is always better to drop it off yourself so that the charity does not have to spend money to get it from you. They may like to have a list of issues that the vehicle may have so that they can get it fixed, but it is likely not required as they will be happy to have the donation.

Now that the charity has the car donation, you need to make sure that all the paperwork is filled out and that the vehicle is signed over to the charity and no longer your responsibility. Some charities may quickly auction the vehicle and if the buyer does not register the vehicle, you will be responsible for any fines or crimes associated with the vehicle even if it hasn’t been in your possession for some time. Just remember to sign everything and properly give the car donation to the charity and get receipts for your taxes.
