Oodnadatta Track - South Australia
WHERE TO GO HOW TO TRAVEL
HOW TO LIVE HOW TO SURVIVE HOW TO BEHAVE HOME

ROAD CONDITIONS
Easy, well graded gravel road. Be careful if you drive a 2WD.

CAMPING
Coward Springs, William Creek Pub, basically anywhere in the desert.   Shelter from the wind might be hard to find. People use the old railway sleepers as fire wood. A culture heritage goes up in smoke.

The Oodnadatta Track is an easy, for the most part well graded gravel road. It's nothing for the 4WD thrill seeker since it can be negotiated in a conventional car. The main features along the Oodnadatta track are old railway buildings, bridges and telegraph stations. The track follows the Old Ghan railway line. If you're interest in pioneering history you will not be disappointed. The nature is rather barren (understatement). This is for serious desert lovers.
Coward Springs and William Creek Pub are two nice places to camp in. A stop at the Pink Roadhouse in Oodnadatta is almost a must. Their burgers are great. Oodnadatta is the starting point for most adventurers who intend to cross the Simpson Desert from East to West over to Birdsville.
